Overnight Stabling Locations
The locations listed on this page are overnight facilities for boarding horses while you are traveling.
We have found, in over fifty years of traveling with our horses, that we can find a place to layover without much of a problem, but it does take some research. We hope you will find this information helpful in your travels.
These are locations that have worked well for us. We are also including sites/locations referred to us by other horse travelers.
There are also RV Sanitation Dump sites listed.
Some locations may be RV Parks that are located near where your horse is stabled. Some locations may be stables that have an RV Park nearby. Some may be a stable or campground that will board your horse overnight and have dry and/or wet hookups for your trailer. Some locations maybe city, county, state or national parks and lands that have horse campgrounds. Others may be stockyards, fair grounds, rodeo arenas, horse show arenas, auctions barns, gathering corrals, or motels with facilities for horses.
If you know of a site that is not listed here, email us at auction@execpc.com with the location, contact information, facilities and services available, and a brief review of your stay at that location.
We will accept any site or location for listing.
We will update this page often.
For other equine/horse-related business, such as tack, saddle, animal health stores, veterinarians, farriers, horse trailer sales and repair, sale barns, and auction houses who wish to market their services on these pages, a one-time fee of $20 for a listing is charged. If you are an overnight stabling location there is no charge to list. Please contact us by email at auction@execpc.com You will be listed on our Equine Services for travlers page.
Bobbie and I would like to remind you be courteous, to clean up after yourself, your horses and pets. Leave the place at least like you found it, if not better, so future travelers will find a welcome.
Arizona

Southern Calif.
Barstow Horse Motel, off Hwy 58 between I-40 and I-15. Good stop if you are headed either to Vegas or Kingman. Nice pens, very nice lady runs it, electrical hookups and level pads for living quarters. Cons: close to railroad switching station, you get used to it, but, some may have trouble sleeping. 27702 Waterman Rd Barstow,CA 92311 (760) 256-3671
Blythe, Ca
Choat Horse Hotel, Blythe, Ca. 760-922-2253, Exit 236 at I-10. Very nice facilities, stallions welcome. Close to the town of Blythe, we stayed at the Hampton Inn about 2 miles away. You can stay onsite with a camper or RV.
Lost Hill RV Park, Off I-5 Lost Hills, California. 661-797-2719, 14831 Warren St., Lost Hills 93249. This RV park may not be the nicest in the area, but, it does have 5 or 6 horse pens on the west end of the park, with pull through RV pads directly adjacent. I saw lots on complaints on some RV networks about noise and amenities. For a horse person, just needing a good safe place with full hookups and a horse pen, this fits the bill. If you are an avid RV’er with a $500,000 bus, probably not.
Colorado
Buena Vista/Salida
I have a vacation rental as well as my own ranch which would be perfect for those traveling through the Salida/Buena Vista area of south central Colorado. The properties are adjacent and both back up to BLM land and are only a few miles to trailheads for the Colorado trail. It's in section 56 for those who are hunting. The site with more information and pictures is at: www.homeaway.com/386942. This is a recreational area with activities ranging from skiing, fishing, packing, trails for riding, 4 wheeling, hiking etc.
There is no charge for stabling/pasturing horses for those staying at the vacation rental. If just requiring overnight stabling the charge is $10 per night per horse and can be at either place. Access is easy right off hwy 285 between Salida and B.V.
If you need further info, this is the email to use, phone 719-221-6740, or inquiries through the homeaway site. .
Florida
Live Oak, Florida
north Florida; Spirit of Suwannee Music Park and Campground. It is a privately owned park, over 800 acres and adjacent to Suwannee River Water Management Lands. There is a large horse campground with 87 sites, 28 stalls, and a barn with another 20 stalls, plus 7 paddocks and 5 or 6 fenced in arena size areas. The park is in Live Oak, Florida, Suwannee County and you can check it out at their website, www.musicliveshere.com. I am the horse camping host there. The trail riding is fantastic. The venue is ideal for any kind of equine event, although they frequently have very large 3-4 days music festivals there as well and quite a busy schedule. This was the first on-site location for RFDTV's "America On Horseback". Camp Host: Janeen Baily

North Carolina
Uwharrie National Forest
Hi- I am a mulesonly member and wanted to let you know about our place in North Carolina. It is not fancy, but a nice place to camp and trail ride. I threw together a web site for my husband- he moved a house that will eventually be a seasonal rental. There is a short slide show that has pictures of riding in the Uwharrie National Forest in early spring and horses on the highline. I am working on a new website...but until then... Our place is located at the entrance of the Uwharrie National Forest in central NC. You can ride from out location into the forest where there are at least 60 miles of horse trails. The trails vary from easy to very challenging.
We have room for several rigs at a time. Our hookups include electric and water. We have highlines for tying your mules and horses which are enclosed in an electric fence for added security. We can also make gate panel stalls if needed. We spend our winters at this location, November to May....so a person would want to call ahead for availability.
